DJ’ing masked – Increasingly popular with famous DJ’s
It is often the case that artists, especially musicians, are especially succesful if they are able to to surround themselves with a special aura or image. In some cases this is achieved by wearing a recognisable and distinctive outfit. This can also be observed in the electronic dance music scene. Quite a few DJ’s try to distinguish themselves from their peers by wearing masks, with one of the better known examples being the french duo ‘Daft Punk’ with their characteristic robot masks being worn during gigs.
Donald Trump masks best selling halloween mask
For a few years, Barack Obama masks were among the best selling halloween masks in the USA. This year, with the next presidential election in 2016 coming closer, this has changed. Accordingly, masks of promising candidates such as Donald Trump are increasingly in demand as a halloween disguise. One of the better specimens depicting the american billionaire are produced by a mexican company specialising in latex masks. As Donald trump is not especially popular in Mexico after describing mexican immigrants to the USA as “criminals, drug traffickers and rapists”, it is obvious that the halloween mask showing his unique hairdo doesn’t have a particular friendly appearance (can’t be expected by a halloween mask anyways). The grandpa mask – disguising as an old man
Here are some suggestions on how to put together an old male disguise, big thanks to Michel for sending us these amazing pictures. As you can see on the pictures, it is pretty easy to turn yourself into an elderly male, it just takes a few seconds with the right mask. The most important part of this old man disguise is the costume mask made from foam latex, consisting of one piece covering the head. There is no additional make-up needed for the changing face, so this is a pretty effective costuming with this mask since it is easy to put on and to put off. The face mask shown on the fotos was customized with special paint for latex to highlight the wrinkles and the dark circles around the eyes for a realistic grandpa appearance.
Masks of politicians in Japan
In Japan, demand for masks of politicians seems to be strong, especially before elections. Wearers of such masks tend to express their support of certain politicians by wearing masks showing the faces of these candidates during campaigns or election rallies. Alternatively, it is also possible that masks of opposing politicans are worn to make fun of their disliked adversaries.

Halloween is the time when everbody and their brother wishes to wear some sort of costume. Latex masks representing more (or less) famous people seems to be an important segment for the costume industry. Unfortunately, most often these masks look only remotely like the original they wish to represent, especially if these masks were created in China. Lately, Conan O’Brien presented a Conan O’Brien mask as his this years halloween costume in his “Conan Takes Your Questions” series on Youtube. Really crappy (chinese?) mask, but funny anyway:
