DJ’ing masked – Increasingly popular with famous DJ’s

It is often the case that artists, especially musicians, are especially succesful if they are able to to surround themselves with a special aura or image. In some cases this is achieved by wearing a recognisable and distinctive outfit. This can also be observed in the electronic dance music scene. Quite a few DJ’s try to distinguish themselves from their peers by wearing masks, with one of the better known examples being the french duo ‘Daft Punk’ with their characteristic robot masks being worn during gigs.

As well notable is the using of a mask by the artist ‘Deadmau5’, a canadian born producer and DJ, that was one of the newcomers of 2007 in the electronic music scene. When playing on festivals and in clubs, he is know for wearing a unique mask, covered with plush, looking like the head of a mouse with illuminated eyes. In short, the mask is a real eye-catcher, which unfortunately can’t be bought anywhere.

For any fan of Joel Zimmerman aka ‘Deadmau5’ who wants to own such a mask despite this, we have dug out a decent construction manual for the ‘Mau5head’; as some ambitious fans managed to realise a respectable replica in the meantime and managed to produce a tutorial. The mask can be build with relative ease and low input costs by anyone who is good with his hands. So, if you are looking for a fancy dress for carnival this kind of mask might be the right one if you aim to impress people.
